01/06/2008 01:53:33 New Unit attribute implementation is bullshit
You know, I really think these new unit properties should have been more thoroughly tested within the community before implementing them. I think there are some serious flaws...
For one, submarines are WAAAAY to powerful. They were already very powerful before this implementation and now they can fire from RANGE?!? Also, if they get within 1 sq of a destroyer, they take NO DAMAGE!!! NO DAMAGE!!!!!!?!?????
Also, the fact that fighter jets are nearly invulnerable... aka, the only thing that can do serious damage is a fighter jet (wtf is up with 10 anti air vs 10 fighter jet leaving us with 8 fighter jet). This needs to be fixed. Also, why can't a battleship do more than 1 damage to these damn things.
These are just a couple of the problems, and i am not going to mention them all because I dont' have the time. But while i rarely post on here, this just pissed me off too much to say nothing.

Would have been nice to get your input during the actual testing phase (i.e. prerelease).

This is a bug and will be fixed asap.

I think the 'bug' that destroyers cannot shot back is not a bad thing and one of the few reasons to build a sub (if you can build air units).
With the battleship seriously weakened (mainly because of the 1-4 range) it is normally not a great idea to build it given its price. So you build destroyers which are also fine against air units where battleships are in trouble vs bombers.
Also the possibility of building a sub might prevent an enemy building a battleship (then you don't need the sub again).
The sub is very limited in its use and not as versatile as the destroyer but even more expensive so with the limited battleship use there are very few occasion where a sub could be useful if there wouldn't be the fact that destroyers can't shoot back.
Also if your enemy builds to much subs you can just stop building destroyers or battleship but come up with mass speedboats which are very hard to counter.
I suggest to leave the sub/destroyer fight as it is with the range of 1-2 for the sub and 2-2 for the destroyer against subs unless you boost the sub somehow or make it more versatile (which might make it necessary to implemented non naval based sub counters).
I think it is not good that the heli cannot move again after an attack, like the jet or bomber can. Also the heli cannot move 1-15 and 1-3 and attack afterwards. Is this supposed to be a bug, too?

The jet has a valuable defense and might be hard to kill for land units, but anti air and heavy inf do well against them considering there costs. Destroyers are even more effective and speedboats are effective against them as well. Jets of course also, so i don't see why the general jet defense should be reduced. Also i think it is fair that battleships don't do much damage against air unit because their main purpose is not killing aircraft (you have destroyers or speedboats for that). However it might be good improve the anti air damage a little.

I think its also worth adding that Assault Artillery is not bad against flyers either...

Yes, and it's been fixed.
