You would think, unfortunately there are millions of idiots worldwide waiting to prove you wrong.

I think the species as a whole is defective. The only hope for humanity is Weewar.

I am totally +1 for requiring a license to procreate (that means having babies for force, anon, etc.) I have been a proponent of this for years and now that I am a parent I can say it with even more conviction. It just seems like stupid breeds stupid and the cycle rarely ever ends. I would totally vote for a parenting license...pretty much the biggest decision that someone succeeds/fails at in their life time.
@DB...I agree. The world does need more WeeWar. Maybe that would be the best way for countries to wage "war" against each other. The big democratic heads could get their anger and aggression out and it wouldn't cost average taxpayers lives or finances. Now that is a good idea

First, if you start regulating childbirth, there will be an underground black market for kids and having them, etc. That presents new problems we haven't yet thought about.

Second, I was in the USMC for six years. I believe that wars should be fought by leaders themselves. Be it a fight to the death with sticks, or old fasioned arm wrestling, the leaders should fight their own wars. That's just me. I'm not anti-war, but I think there are better ways to do it.

Guys, you seriously need to watch this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyVNlvzzSFA

There was a time when reading wasn't just for fags. And neither was writing. People wrote books and movies. Movies with stories, that made you care about whose ass it was and why it was farting. And I believe that time can come again!

I would watch it now, but my wife is frowing at me from the couch. She gets suspicious when I laugh to myself. Our senses of humor differ slightly.

Exactly the opposite, man.

@ Warmaker: The idea actually isn't against nature in the least. Nature supports this more than anything. It's society that's stopping itself. If it were up to nature, the strong would survive and the idiots would die out. Nature is cruel and unfair but it gets the job that nobody else wants to take done... and you've got to respect her for that.

@ Streen: Idiocracy is one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen and even though the idea behind it is interesting and in part humorous, it is also illogical. If humanity reached that level of stupidity, this planet more likely than not would no longer exist.

@ Dark: He is actually right. You underestimate the stupidity of your average dumb ass and the cruelty of the power hungry genius. Were it not for society, certain intelligent people could do a lot of things to eliminate a crap load of dumb ones and get away with it... and it would work.

@ Warmaker #2: Agreed about leaders fighting it out. I disagree with the whole concept of a leader being a "ruler". A leader is someone people follow for the better of them all. Not to make that single person the supreme being in a certain society. Unfortunately the world doesn't always function based on normality and logic. Seeing leaders fight for themselves however would prove that they are in fact worthy of their position and it would also provide great entertainment for the rest of us. I mean seriously... what greater match ups than some of the world's biggest leaders.

@ Po: Don't be a wimp. You've improved heaps lately. Stole a crapload of my strategies so I'm sure you'll hold out better than you think.

I never thought a thread would go this direction. Spam usually overrules.

Lucian, I'm a huge fan of survival of the fittest. Unfortunately, our societies enable almost everyone to survive, whether they have good genes or not. I'm a purist when it comes to theory, so, ideally, the weak, the slow, the stupid, the obese, etc... should all die off. But I have family that fills in all those categories.

You're right. Government intervention would help control some of the genetics in our country. But at what point does it turn into Hitler's creation of a superior race? Or a society like in the MechWarrior books, where the Clans only select the best genes for passing on?

The moment emotion overrules logic.

Unfortunately Logic/Truth/Right varies depending on ethnicity, religion and region.

There is no global/universal truth. Dont argue back with 'mathematics is a truth we can
build from' because mathematics doesn't govern emotion and faith which are truly where
we get our foundations for truth and the sense of right.

yes, i did study a tad of philosophy in college.

I'm inclined to agree with VT, we're not a race of Vulcans. Emotion is part of human nature, so it's kinda hard to fight against it.

I also agree though, that were it not for emotions, we might find it easier to all get along. I guess it's what makes life interesting.

I was waiting for someone to make this reference, although I wasn't gonna do it myself and stand there like a giant nerd, especially as I don't like Start Treck.

But from what I understand, Vulcans suppress emotions for a reason

Well I figured we already aired the Star Wars versus Star Trek dirty laundry, so it's all fair game.

I can't claim to be a nerd, but it's my belief that the Vulcan race evolved (become enlightened?) to the point that they no longer needed emotions because they just get in the way of logical/rational decision making. An intriguing idea for sure.
