09/03/2012 23:03:17 Star Wars V1.0
Just released v1.0 of this map.
Thought this could prove an interesting concept. A 3 V 1 map. One player controls the "Death Star" - an island with a mass of neutral bases in the middle. The catch being that this player only has two infantry with which to capture these bases and those infantry have a great many mountains to traverse before reaching the center (representing the time it takes to make the Death Star "fully operational").
Meanwhile the Rebel Alliance has a bunch of ships with which to try and break through to the Death Star and take out the infantry units there (destroy the Death Star).
A few neutral "planets" lie between the Rebels and the Death Star (identify the Star Wars themed planets). Rebels can "recruit" these planets to their cause.
First version. May prove to be horribly unbalanced. Comments welcome. Play-testing even more welcome.

Hey Casaubon I tried to invite you to a game but it didn't seem to want to let me invite one player but leave the other two slots open. It just started a two player game.

Set up this game if you can join it in time.

I like that Idea very much! If you need tests i am up for it!

Without having played it, I'd say the death star isn't powerful enough. There are only 14 bases, and looks like the rebels can quite easily capture at least as many, and do it faster.

Agree Juffe. The worry was that if I made it too powerful then the map would be too one sided once it had been captured.
Got a couple of games on the go now so will know soon enough.

We're also testing it:

Nice thanks. I'll keep an eye on that.

bolty more speedboats please, no one will build them cause destroyers are so much better, but they resemble the fighter dogfights right? so there should be lots of them from the start ^^

Our game ended:
Darth Vader did not stand a chance. He could've done better, I think, by sending the right units towards the right enemies (he kinda sent all types of navy units in all directions), but all in all we overrun him good.
Were there other test games? How did they end?

The Empire has no prayer on this map, the other guys get too many bases and have them for too long before red even gets one. No matter what red does, it can't win.
Red either needs way more firepower out of the gate or red should start with like 18-22 bases in the death star. Otherwise, red has no shot.
It's a great map and an awesome idea, but it needs some tinkering before it can yield close battles.

But...we want the Empire to lose, don't we? They're bad!
